Katanic Built is a small, family-oriented general contractor with well-rounded construction and carpentry experience. We strive to add value for clients through innovation, foresight, and integrity serving clients with character and purpose that brings honor and glory to God.
We partner with a a team of accomplished professionals from our architect to our specialty contractors. Whether we’re building a new home or finishing a commercial space, we want our clients to feel like the work is thoughtfully designed and remarkably crafted.
Katanic Built was founded in November of 2016 as Asher Builders. In 2023, we gravitated toward New Construction, focusing on affordable, well-built housing. As we set out to make something special, we honed our architectural plans, drawing from lessons learned and years of experience. We listened to partners and clients. We looked for ways to refine our processes. We soaked up wisdom from craftsmen with even more experience than us. We wanted the homes we built to be thoughtfully designed and remarkably crafted. In the process of transforming our builds, our company was transformed as well, and we proudly became Katanic Built.

Fontana Street - Spec Houses
Check out our two spec house builds in Roeland Park. We’re building side by side to help save on construction cost, but each floor plan is uniquely customized to take advantage of the slope and shape of each lot.
Poplar - Custom Build
Follow along with this custom build. The existing home had deteriorated beyond repair as its owners aged, but inside the home and workshop were glimpses of the craftsmanship that once went on there. As the old house comes down, and a new one is built, we’d like to think the memories of those passed on will still whisper in the trees.

Residential Addition
In 2025, we engaged Katanic Built to be the contractor on a three story addition to our home that would house an elevator. The addition was designed by NSPJ Architects, the house’s original design firm. Our goal was to make the addition appear as if it had been completed when the house was built 24 years earlier. We requested that NSPJ recommend three contractors for whom we could obtain bids.
They say first impressions matter. That was certainly the case with Don Katanic. Within a few hours of emailing the plans to the three contractors to obtain bids, Don called me and requested a time to come in, introduce himself, and review the site for the addition. I found Don to be knowledgeable and quality-focused on essential aspects of our home and the project details. He was very responsive in preparing a detailed bid in line with our six-week bid completion deadline.
Throughout, Don approached the project as if our house were his, as regards materials and work quality. The final product achieved our objective. The addition appears seamless with the original quality and aesthetics of our home.
Commercial Addition
We had our patio built by Katanic Built, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, their team was professional, efficient, and detail-oriented.
